This Union Pacific Steam Locomotive is part of a static display on a bluff above Omaha, NE. The sign near it indicated that this was built by the American Locomotive Company of New York for the Union Pacific in 1944. Another sign calls this one of the "Big Boy" type articulated locomotives designed for heavy hauling and high speeds as part of the war effort. Its last run was July 20, 1959 and officially retired in July 1962. It has been on display in Omaha since 1975. They simply don't make them like this anymore! 11-2011.

Setting near the "Big Boy" coal fired steam locomotive is this 6600 HP Locomotive designed in 1972. It is an impressive 95' long from end to end, what a power house! 11-2011.
