City Park

Many of our postcards have come from on-line auctions with the sellers living in all parts of America and even abroad. In most cases the sellers know little about Estherville and advertise the cards with whatever information comes on them. In this case the original photographer called this shot "Lovers Lane." We have spoken with family that have lived in Estherville since 1919 and have never heard this area of the city park referred to as such. But we bought the card none the less and present it here as an early view of the city square. If you look closely to the left of the first tree you can see the Fort Defience Monument that has been a part of this park since around 1912 (more on this on another page).

If you would like a full size scan of this card for your personal use please send e-mail and we will make it available to you. We do not honor requests for scans to be used in commercial ventures.
